Course Overview
Have you been working in the Building and Construction Industry within the wall and ceiling lining (plastering) sector and are yet to have your skills recognised? Become trade-qualified with CPC31220 Certificate III in Wall and Ceiling Lining! Upon successful completion of this Qualification, you may be eligible to obtain your trade contractors licence* allowing you to conduct wall and ceiling lining operations on residential and commercial projects as a Wall and Ceiling Liner, Drywaller or Plasterer.
By obtaining this qualification, your knowledge and skills required in areas such as common skills for the construction industry, as well as skills and knowledge in the specialist field of work wall and ceiling lining; applying and fixing linings for non-structural walls and ceilings are all validated. *In Queensland; successful completion of this qualification and the approved QBCC Managerial Course is the minimum requirement for applying for a Trade Contractor License – Wall and Ceiling Lining. Students must be 18 years or older and will be required to demonstrate the required level of Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills.
Completion of the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work, is required by anyone carrying out construction work. Achievement of CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.
Entrants to this program will undergo a Pre-qualification Interview to determine suitability and assess current knowledge and experience, to ensure that this is the right qualification relative to your career progression.
A Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Assessment is offered to students that can demonstrate a minimum of two (2) years industry experience. The RPL Assessment process is undertaken by a qualified industry experienced Trainer & Assessor who will measure your prior knowledge and experience against the performance criteria of the qualification. As a result, you may not need to complete the entire qualification if you already possess some of the criteria taught within this qualification. If you apply for RPL and your application is successful you could:
- Reduce or eliminate the need to undertake training in skills and knowledge you already have
- Save time by reducing the number of classes that you will need to attend
- Complete your qualification in a shorter time
- Advance to a higher-level qualification in a shorter time, if desired.

To achieve this qualification, you must demonstrate competency in 29 units of competency; comprised of 22 core units and 7 elective units. Whilst there is no formal pre-requisite required, the building and construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context.

Delivery Method
Upon finalisation of the RPL Assessment, students’ will be provided with a Training Plan outlining the units of competency to be trained and assessed. Training delivery is varied to suit the individual learner’s needs. Training may vary from online delivery, classroom based and/or one on one at your workplace. Training will be scheduled in collaboration with you prior to commencement.
